KWCUSA Welcomes ABC

KWCUSA will welcome camera crews and producers from ABC to film its singers at this years' regional and national championships. Interest in what is the largest national singing competition in the country has grown so dramatically that the national network has taken notice and is on board to film the singers and document their stories as they advance through the competition. Wendell Payne, the president of the KWCUSA organization explains that "this gives the 15 million karaoke singers in this country an opportunity they have never had before."
The presence of ABC's cameras will no doubt bring out the best talent the contest has seen so far. It is an opportunity like no other to showcase the undiscovered talent out there. While this isn't the first time that karaoke singers have been spotlighted on national television-the Oprah Winfrey Show featured a karaoke contest last year, this will be the first time that national network cameras will be documenting the singers and their stories throughout an entire competition.
ABC's presence will make this contest resonate even more with the thousands of singers who either have, will, or are participating in the local contests all across the country right now. To accommodate the interest from singers so far, and to satisfy the demand that is sure to follow the news that a national network will be filming the event, KWCUSA has consolidated its regional finals into three and is allowing its local and state competitions to run longer.
Wendell says "We will have more on ABC shortly"

Moscow, Russia to host Karaoke World Championships 2010

KWC in Finland announced the 2010 hosts of the Karaoke World Championships would be Moscow, Russia. The worlds biggest and most respected karaoke event will be held September 22nd to 25th. We, here in the USA wanted to host, but we could not do it justice in 2010, and believe we will be better able to prepare for 2012. So we look forward to determining who will represent USA in Russia this year.

2011 Season Underway

This is the year that the competition will be used to develop the show with ABC. Dates will be finalized based upon the development of the show.

If you had signed your venue up for any previous years, you will have to go through the signup process again and purchase venue rights to hold a competition for 2011. With the ABC show, the stakes are much higher, so getting involved early will help ensure your venue is sanctioned as an official KWCUSA venue.

The 2011 competition is under way as of September 1st, 2010. For 2011, we will have 3 regions with 54 states (California, Florida and Texas are divided into multiple states plus DC) and our KWCUSA agents are now contacting venues. Make sure your establishment has been contacted by emailing your agent. The goal for every venue competition should be to find the best talent to represent the United States of America at the 2011 Karaoke World Championships. This is certainly the goal of the KWCUSA organization. The 2011 World Competition will be held in Ireland in September.
